URL Image Importer includes a free storage analysis tool that scans your Media Library and shows you exactly how much space you're using and which file types are taking it up — no account or setup required.
Open the storage analysis tool
In your WordPress dashboard, go to Media > Import Images. Below the import tabs you'll find the Analyze Your Storage Usage panel.
Run a free scan
Click the Run Free Scan button. The tool reads the files in your uploads directory right on your server and builds the report in just a few seconds. Your data is analyzed locally — nothing is uploaded or sent anywhere.
Read your storage report
When the scan finishes, the Storage Usage Analysis report appears with:
- A total at a glance. The ring shows your total media size and file count (for example,
82.96 MB / 19files). - A breakdown by file type. Each category — Images, Documents, Audio, Archives, Video, and Code — is listed with its size and number of files, so you can see what's using the most space.
Need to re-check later? Click Refresh to run the scan again — handy right after a large import.
Why this is handy
The report reads the actual files in your uploads directory and groups them by type, so you can understand what's consuming space before or after a big import. If your Media Library is getting large, it's an easy way to spot heavy file types (video and archives are common culprits) and decide what to offload.
