Self-Host Your PowerPress Episodes, Skip the Separate Podcast Host Bill
PowerPress can publish episodes from your Media Library or hand them to Blubrry's paid hosting. Infinite Uploads makes self-hosting the practical choice: upload the MP3, and the feed's enclosure URL points at a global CDN. Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and every app download the episode from the edge, not your server.

PowerPress and Infinite Uploads: Self-Hosted Episodes, Without the Hosting Bill
PowerPress will publish episodes straight from your Media Library, but self-hosting has a reputation problem. A popular episode spikes bandwidth overnight, a growing back catalog of MP3s and video fills disk space and every backup, and listeners far from your server get slow downloads. So podcasters pay Blubrry or another host just to move bytes.
Infinite Uploads makes self-hosting the practical choice again. Upload the episode through PowerPress as usual and it offloads to cloud storage automatically. The RSS feed's enclosure URL updates to a global CDN link, so Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and every app download the file from the edge, not your origin server.
PowerPress keeps doing what it does: ID3 tags, file size and duration detection, the built-in players, iTunes and Apple Podcasts settings, and multiple channels all work unchanged. For adaptive streaming on the episode page, upload the video to the Video Library and embed it with the Infinite Uploads block; the feed enclosure still needs a plain MP4 URL.

Four Problems Infinite Uploads Solves for a Self-Hosted Show
Most offload plugins move files and stop. Here's what matters when the files are your episodes.
Episode Downloads Stop Loading From Your Server
A popular episode can pull thousands of downloads in a day, and every one used to hit your server. Infinite Uploads serves the MP3 or MP4 from a global CDN edge instead, so a viral episode never threatens uptime and overseas listeners get the same fast download as anyone else.
Years of Episodes Stop Filling Your Hosting Plan
A show with a few hundred episodes can be tens of gigabytes of audio and video sitting on your server, bloating every backup. Infinite Uploads moves the back catalog to cloud storage and frees the local copies, so your hosting plan stops growing with every new episode.
One Bill Instead of a Separate Podcast Host
Podcasters often pay Blubrry, Libsyn, or another host purely to get episode bandwidth off their server. Infinite Uploads' storage and CDN are already part of the plan you need, so bandwidth for the show stops being a second invoice.
Artwork and Episodes Organized, Not Buried in One Folder
Cover art, episode artwork, and years of MP3s land in the same Media Library, artwork optimized to AVIF and WebP along the way. Media Folders, sort, and search keep each season's files together, so finding last year's episode doesn't mean scrolling through thousands of uploads.
Why Podcasters Pair PowerPress With Infinite Uploads
One Predictable Bill Instead of a Separate Host
Storage, bandwidth, and CDN delivery come on one Infinite Uploads plan. No Blubrry or Libsyn invoice on top of it, and free up local storage once the back catalog syncs, so your hosting plan stays the size it is today.
Move a Back Catalog Without Republishing an Episode
The first sync moves your existing Media Library, every past episode included, and rewrites enclosure URLs to the CDN automatically. PowerPress and your feed keep working, and one click restores files.
Every Show on One Account
Networks running several PowerPress shows on a WordPress Multisite connect every site to one Infinite Uploads account. Unlimited sites on every plan, one usage dashboard, no separate cloud credentials to hand over.
What Works, Feature by Feature
Feature
What you get
Episode MP3, self-hosted from the Media Library
Upload the file to the Media Library and it offloads to cloud storage. The RSS enclosure URL updates automatically to the CDN link, no extra setting to change.
Works
ID3 tags, file size, and duration
PowerPress reads these with an HTTP HEAD request and a byte-range read against the file's URL, so detection works the same whether the file sits on your server or the CDN.
Works
iTunes and Apple Podcasts feed settings
Category, explicit flag, owner details, and season and episode numbers write into the feed exactly as before. Only the enclosure URL changed.
Works
Video podcast embedded on the episode page
Upload to the Video Library and embed with the Infinite Uploads block. Transcoded for adaptive streaming and played in the customizable player. Included on every plan.
Works, Video Cloud
WordPress Multisite networks
Every show running on the network offloads to the same account, sharing one storage pool and one usage dashboard across every site.
Works
Video podcast RSS enclosure
Podcast apps need a plain MP4 URL in the feed, not Video Cloud's adaptive stream. Point the enclosure at the offloaded MP4 in the Media Library instead.
Plain MP4 in the feed
Blubrry download stats
Self-hosting on Infinite Uploads reports CDN bandwidth in the Infinite Uploads dashboard, not Blubrry's download numbers. Keep the Blubrry stats redirect prefix in the feed to get both.
Use the stats redirect
Blubrry Podcast Hosting
A separate paid host for episode media that solves the same bandwidth problem Infinite Uploads solves for self-hosted files. Pick one rather than paying for both.

Feed enclosure URLs after a CDN change
The enclosure URL in the feed is the CDN address. If you ever change CDN domains or providers, republish the feed so podcast apps pick up the new URL.

Up and Running in Three Steps
1. Connect Infinite Uploads
Install the plugin, connect your account, and sync. Existing episodes, artwork, and video files move to the cloud. PowerPress and your feed are unchanged.
2. Publish Episodes as Usual
Upload the MP3 or MP4 to the Media Library through PowerPress like always. The file offloads automatically and the feed's enclosure URL points at the CDN.
3. Free Up Local Storage
Once the sync completes, remove local copies from Infinite Uploads settings. Your hosting plan gets its space back and every episode keeps serving from the CDN.
Good to Know Before You Switch
Blubrry stats need the Blubrry redirect or hosting. Self-hosting episodes on Infinite Uploads gives you CDN bandwidth data in the Infinite Uploads dashboard, not Blubrry's download numbers. Keep the Blubrry stats redirect prefix in your feed if you want IAB-certified download stats alongside self-hosted media.
Video podcast enclosures need a plain MP4, not the Video Cloud stream. Video Cloud's adaptive stream is built for the player on your own episode page, not podcast apps. For the RSS enclosure, point at the offloaded MP4 file in the Media Library, and podcast apps play it directly.
Episode files are public, whichever host serves them. A podcast feed only works if anyone can fetch the enclosure URL, so an offloaded MP3 or MP4 on Infinite Uploads is exactly as reachable as one hosted anywhere else. Pick the episode from the Media Library in PowerPress so the enclosure gets the CDN address.
How We Tested
- Uploaded an MP3 episode to the Media Library and published it with PowerPress.
- Confirmed the feed's enclosure URL pointed at the Infinite Uploads CDN domain.
- Checked ID3 tags, file size, and duration displayed correctly in the episode list.
- Uploaded episode cover art and confirmed it loaded from the CDN edge.
- Played the episode in the built-in player and downloaded it from the feed link.
Result: everything worked, no configuration needed.
Frequently Asked Questions
PowerPress lets me self-host or use Blubrry's paid hosting. Does Infinite Uploads change that choice?
It makes self-hosting the better option. Upload the episode to your Media Library as usual and it offloads to cloud storage automatically. The feed's enclosure URL points at the CDN, so Apple Podcasts and Spotify download it from there.
Do ID3 tags, file size, and episode duration still detect correctly?
Yes. PowerPress reads them with an HTTP HEAD request and a byte-range read against the file's URL rather than the local disk. That works the same whether the file sits on your server or the CDN.
Will Blubrry's download stats still work?
Only if you keep the Blubrry stats redirect prefix in your feed. Without it, Infinite Uploads reports CDN bandwidth in its own dashboard, not Blubrry's download numbers. Add the redirect if you want both.
Can I still use Blubrry Podcast Hosting alongside Infinite Uploads?
You can, but they solve the same problem. Blubrry Podcast Hosting is a separate paid host for episode bandwidth. Most shows pick one: Blubrry hosting, or self-hosted episodes on the Infinite Uploads CDN.
What about video podcasts?
For adaptive streaming, upload the video to the Video Library and embed it with the Infinite Uploads block. For the RSS feed itself, point the enclosure at the plain MP4 in your Media Library, since podcast apps need a direct file.
Will my listeners notice anything different?
Faster downloads, especially overseas, since episodes now come from the nearest CDN edge instead of your server. A viral episode no longer risks slowing down the rest of your site.
How much storage does a podcast back catalog need?
Size it on total episode hours. An hour of MP3 audio runs roughly 50 to 60 MB; video episodes are far larger. Plans run from 25 GB to 10 TB, and the pricing calculator estimates cost.
What if an episode file is bigger than my WordPress upload limit?
Add our free Big File Uploads plugin. It lifts the WordPress upload limit without server changes, so long video episodes upload normally and offload to the CDN from there.
