Uncategorized is a virtual folder that shows every media file NOT assigned to a folder. It’s not a real folder in your database. It’s more like a catch-all view.
How It Works
When you install Infinite Uploads and haven’t organized anything yet, ALL of your existing media shows up under Uncategorized. That’s normal. It just means those files don’t have a folder assignment yet.
Any time a file doesn’t belong to a specific folder, it appears here. Think of Uncategorized as “everything that hasn’t been filed yet.”
When Files Show Up in Uncategorized
- New uploads when no folder is selected land in Uncategorized.
- Files removed from a folder (by dragging them to Uncategorized) show up here.
- Files whose folder was deleted get moved to Uncategorized automatically.
The Difference Between “All Files” and “Uncategorized”
These two virtual folders at the top of the sidebar do different things:
- All Files shows every media item in your library, regardless of folder assignment. Everything.
- Uncategorized shows only the files that aren’t assigned to any folder.
If all your files are organized into folders, Uncategorized will show a count of zero. All Files will still show your full library.
Can I Hide Uncategorized?
No. Uncategorized is always visible in the sidebar. It’s there so you can always find files that haven’t been organized yet and so you always have a place to put files you don’t want in a specific folder.
